MARIA POINTER, RN, BSN
Maria is a 25 year veteran nurse and currently managing St. Joseph’s Hospital here in Phoenix. She was inspired and motivated to open an Assisted Living Group Home as a result of caring for her grandfather, Ed “Pop” Cullen, who had been living with undiagnosed Alzheimer’s. After several negative experiences with larger facilities and unable to find suitable care in the smaller group homes, Maria realized that to give Pop the care he deserved she would have to “do it myself.” Thus, Because We Care was born. Pop passed away before construction was finished but Maria decided that the community needed a different type of group home and carried on with the project.
“We have the best caregivers in the world. They treat all the residents with the compassion and love I had for Pop. Compassion is the main thing we look for. Our caregivers have experience from 8 years to 30 years. They know what they’re doing. We also serve the highest quality of food and provide all the luxuries you’d want someone you love to
